Susquehanna, PA ~ Another action packed night of racing is in the books at Penn Can Speedway in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania. The final make-up feature for the modifieds from May 2nd was first on the schedule. Alan Rudalavage of Newton Lake scored his first win of the 2008 season. In the modified night-cap popular Bobby Trapper of Scranton held off a strong field of twenty seven cars to claim his first modified win. In the late model division former track champion Dan Stone put it all together to get his first 2008 win while in the sportsman division 2007 champion Jeff Crambo got the win. The pure stocks had a repeat winner with Steven Deinhardt capturing his second win of the year at the speedway. John Hoover got the monkey off his back and came home first in the four cylinder class with Jeff Van Steenburg winning the CRSA sprint main event. After over a month of waiting the modified feature from May 2nd resumed on lap two with Chad Cook jumping to the lead. Cook would keep his car out front until lap seven when the seventh starting car of Alan Rudalavage powered out to the front. The cars on the move during the mid portion of the race were Joey Grammes, Butch Tittle, and Dan Vauter. A lap twernty three caution closed the field up with Rudalavage leading, followed by Grammes, Cook, and Vauter. The last five laps saw Rudalavage stay out front and come home with the win with Grammes holding strong in second. Vauter got around Cook for third with Steve Babicek coming up into the top five. In the second modified feature of the night Bernie Griffin took off and led the first five laps until the first caution flew. Before the restart, Griffin dropped to the rear with mechanical problems turning the lead over to Bobby Trapper. The battle then heated up in the front of the pack with Trapper out front followed closely by Dan Vauter, Brian Weaver, and Bill Miller having his strongest run of the season. The second caution of the race came out on lap twenty with Trapper leading Vauter, Weaver, last week’s winner Craig Terrell, and Jeff Rudalavage. The last ten laps would be run caution free with Trapper holding off Vauter and Weaver. Jeff Rudalavage got pass Terrel for fourth with Terrell settling for fifth. The late model feature saw Dan Stone take the lead from Adam Diaz on lap three with Allan Kellogg and Randall Paxton in tow. Caution would come back out on lap five bring the field back together with Stone out front followed by Kellogg, Paxton, Dan Snyder, and Dave Zona. The final fifteen laps of the twenty lap feature would run caution free with Stone staying in the lead being chased closely by Kellogg, Paxton, Snyder, and Zona. Stone stayed strong for the win with Kellogg second. Snyder used the outside to slide into third followed by Paxton and Zona. Rookie sportsman driver Stanley Wilkins brought the sportsman field to the green and jumped to the lead. Wilkins would lead the first four laps until the caution came out. On the restart Paul Rooney took control and would lead until lap fourteen when Jeff Crambo took the top spot followed by Rooney, Grant Hilfiger, and Nick Rocinski. Crambo would keep his car out front to get his first win of 2008 followed across by Hilfiger, Rocinski, Mike Nagel Jr, and Joey Colsten. Rooney fell back suffering a soft rear tire. The pure stock feature came down to a battle between 2007 champion Butch Green, last week’s winner Steve Deinhaedt, Rich Green, and Harry Marvin III. Butch Green led the first ten laps before Deinhardt took his car to the top side and made the pass. With Deinhardt out front, the battle was on for second. The two Green brothers and Marvin swapped positions lap after lap. Deinhardt keep the lead over the last ten laps for the win with Butch Green holding of Rich Geen for second. Marvin was forth with Steve Polhamus fifth. John Hoover finally got the magic back from last season to win his first four cylinder feature. His win did not come easy as Tim Price, Cody Decker, challenged him lap after lap. In the CRSA feature event Jeff Van Steenburg held off Jeremy Quick, and Todd Spangler to score his first CRSA Penn Can Victory.
